I wanted to order a cam & heads from Jay Allen @ Camshaft Innovations, but from what I've heard he has been having health issues. I've made multiple attempts through email, phone calls and PMs on S B F T E C H with no luck. This is in no way an attempt to bash Jay or bad mouth him. I understand the man is sick and has to tend to his health first. I just want to get my engine parts ordered before I spend the money on something else. Who would everyone suggest?

Yeah, Jay has some health issues. That being said he is also a one man show on top of it all. I still feel its well worth the wait.

From what I read I agree. My concern is if he's that sick I don't want to send him thousands of dollars and have something bad or unforeseen happen where I don't get my stuff.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

On to the next one..FWIW I sent in a tech card for a custom cam from Jay back in Feb. never heard anything back. I recently got wind of his health issues also. Ed is very good and Buddy Rawls.

$1000's of dollars! Man, you must be serious about a cam!

These dudes are good to work with: Custom camshaft grinding from American Custom Cam - camshaft repair, cam grinding They are really good priced and more than helpful. Howards rollers are a good base to start from. My 2 cents.

Comp Cams does it also it seems: COMP Cams® Offers Custom Cam Grinds—NO EXTRA CHARGE - CPG Nation Forum

Lunati used to do it, not so sure any more tho?

Can't Anderson Ford Motorsport do semi-custom H/C/I kits? Or, I guess in your case, just H/C.

I'd like to think I have a good feel for what kind of guy Jay is...
If you give him money, you will get your parts!

Personally, I would avoid FTI... just my "opinion" though...

Here is Jay's post from S B F T E C H. I'm not worried about him keeping my money. I'm worried that he's so far behind that he might get too sick to work anymore and then I will still have to order my stuff somewhere else. Please PM me why to avoid FTI.
Thanks

To Anyone & Everyone It May Concern:

I try to keep my "private" life, private. I have really tried but it appears as though a few of you are so mad at me that you'd rather shoot me than to say my name.

Let's just say things around here have not gone well. As many of you know and I would hope remember, I have a tumor on my pituitary. I have went through some dramatic changes in my life trying to get "things" sorted out.

I was just about on top of things when I along with others though I was have an brain aneurysm. This was due to my pituary shrinking. This sat me back for a much longer time than I thought.

As I was able to send e-mails, I have. As I was able to login, I did. As I was able to get to Facebook, I tried. I had a busy week "planned" as a few of you have noted and PM'ed about, about 1/3 of which I did.

If I am not working I am not making money. I am trying my best and I will get all orders filled. I am sorry if I have upset any of you as this was certainly not my intent. I have spoke to Jim and he explained his position. Was I am on prescription medication, this is not the cause of my latest problem.

I would not wish this on anyone, here I am until I die.

Thanks to all of you who support me.

I am sorry to those who are upset with me.

i contacted fti several months ago regarding a custom cam. i got the automated reply email the next day. i never heard anything else back, i sent in another email with full info 2 weeks later. never had a response. i dont need to beg?

in that same relative time frame, i spent some time emailing another engine builder who frequents this site. i told him for his service alone if i ever build a shortblock/cam setup, i'd go through him. customer service is hard to find now. if i ever get the cash to buy a real setup i still will use him (r&h).

so in a nutshell; i'd contact a few shops and go with your gut feeling. unless your building a real serious combo, i dont think you can go wrong with any of the main custom grinders.
