Im having difficulties in my car in the 1/4 mile, mostly the 1/8th mile is where its killing me. My mods are listed below, ive run a best of 13.8 at 100.5, but im now convinced that was a fluke, because the best time ive seen since then was a 14.2 at 99.2 mph. Im very happy with my mph but my 60s suck bad, there 2.1s and 2.2 with no spin at all with ET Streets, ive tried street radials and still the same result. Im trapping 75mph in the eighth and i raced a buddy "who ive killed numerous times" he traps 81mph in the eighth and only 96mph in the quarter.. So how the heck am i able to gain 8mph on him?? Is a stall going to help out that much??? Whats it sound like to you, how come i have no pop down low???

I bet a lot has to do with the gear ratios in the trans autos are different from stick, the tight converter, and sticky tires.

I know I usuallly run my best mph with my worst 60 ft's.

What is your buddy's set up that is getting 81 in the 1/8 but only 96 in the 1/4. Sounds like he may have a problem... Floating valves, too wide of spark plug gap or running out of fuel up top. I trap around 95 with a stock longblock but my 1/8 is only 76 mph. When I trap 81 in the 1/8 on the nitrous, it runs 102 in the 1/4...

Just wondering, please let me know his set-up, I am trying to understand what gives cars good and bad low end 1/8 times and mph...

Thank You

its sounds like you are boggin off the line cause you cant bring the rpms up without a converter.

yea i didnt see the lack of convertor, my buddie eddie (95gt) ran essentially the same time as me with a little more power mods, a convertor, and stock gears, cut a 1.8 60' on 18" street tires :nonono: i hate that guy.... :D

Yeah thats what i was thinkin to. My ET in the 1/8th is 9.606, trap speed is 76.02, a bit faster than i thought but still sucks!!!

No offense but that is not a 13.8 run. I have an old timeslip here from my car...

1/8th: 8.931 @ 78.74
1/4th: 13.904 @ 99.31

1/8th: 8.909 @ 79.73
1/4th: 13.819 @ 100.49

One guy next to me ran similar 1/8th to you...

1/8th: 9.629 @ 76.94
1/4th: 14.753 @ 96.58

Your numbers dont work out much at all!

You have a decent list of mods a long with 4.10's. I think your car is having some low end torque issues. I really don't want to throw out any wild guesses. It could be many things like a timing chain real slack or jumped back a tooth resulting in a retarded cam which would effect the powerband, but honestly that is a wild guess. A freewheeling torque converter stator can have the effect of bad takeoff but once the speeds get going it perfroms normal. This as well as bad sensor inputs.
