Throwing on some new KYB Gas-Adjust struts and everything was going as smooth as one could hope for and then I realized very quickly that the tops of my struts where the nut goes is sticking up a few inches too high to where It will hit my hood? What's going on here? Everything looks good to go except that small detail and it's starting to drive me bonkers!!!!
Why are the tops of my struts going to hit the hood??

don't have a cam on me and I'm trying to figure this out as we speak...as soon as i lowered the car to the ground, the struts pushed through. I did remove the isolators from the springs this time but I don't think that would be a problem...has never been in the past. 
If the struts pushed through, then it sounds to me like you forgot to reuse the stock metal lower bushing mount, polyurethane bushing kits come with the big lower poly bushing but not the metal mount, so you have to scrape off the rubber on the stock metal bushing mount which is bonded on and use the metal mount with the new poly bushing. The metal mount keeps the strut rod from pushing through, thats how it worked when i replaced my struts with tockico illumina adjustables.

Are you using any spacers on the strut shaft? If so and it still hits, add some thick washers to each side, this will allow the strut to not touch the hood and wont affect handling at all
I had this same prob. you forgot the lower mount or its still stuck to your old strut. You can get a replacement mount and the rubber bushings/spacers at NAPA for 30 bucks.

Yeah, it sounds like you're missing part of the strut mounts. If you don't have them anymore, it's probably a good time to buy adjustable caster/camber plates like these:

Having this same exact problem with the same exact strut. It was like this when I bought the car. Can someone be more specific about the metal lower bushing? When I did my Lakewood 90/10's on the coupe I didnt re-use any old hardware so I am having trouble visualizing what part I'm missing. Does the piece go on top of the tower or on the underneath side?
PS I already have caster cambers put on by Previous Owner if that makes a difference. Dont know what the brand is.
