Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why the cable broke?

At 1st I thought my exhaust had melted it again, but was surprised because after I modified my headers I thought I had lots of clearance.

Now that I have the cable out, it doesn't really look like it melted...

This is for a T5 with king cobra clutch. The king cobra clutch does take a little extra pedal effort vs stock, but it considered fairly mild as far as clutches go.

Another pic. Looks like it kinda "burst".
At the time it broke, I was stopped at a light. The light had just turned green and as I eased it into gear the clutch just "dropped". Luckily the guy ahead of me was already starting to move as I almost rear-ended him.

It is the quadrent style cable. However, I have modified it to suit my needs.

So general concensus is that it was just a crappy cable? Damn thing didn't last 500 miles.

I had an old guy tell me that maybe my cable is pulling the clutch too much. Causing the clutch to hit max travel and bottom out.
