I mean i do realize that some of our cars are built up there, but at the same time we have toyota's being built here. So that excuse doesn't count.

Probably because there are no Canadian car companies, but most American companies build a huge amount of cars up there. Most car companies refer to this market as the "North American" market anyway.

Well, I have a "Windsor" engine in my car. That would refer to "Windsor" Ontario. The process of making cars around Detroit includes factories across the river, in Canada.

Domestic to North America.

It is not European
It is not Asian
It is American (Not the Country, The Continent)

As I know it we up here refer to Domestics as home grown North American cars. Like some of you said built in the U.S.A or Canada.

We also refer to to other countries cars outside of North America as Imports.

That is the only reason. Now some will say Toyotas are built in Canada, that is right but when the term arrived there were none built they were all overseas.

I guess the easy way is the big three GM, Ford and Chrysler are domestic and all others are imports. Savey.

I would say they are not because the profits go to corporations that were chartered outside the USA and North America. BMW's are made here too, but we supply only the cheap labor for the Germans. But this issue becomes an exercise in definitions.
