why do i have no power???

You just had the top end apart didnt you? Like at least intake off.

Did the dizzy get pulled? If so maybe re-checking the timing with the spout out to make sure your at 10* base (or 14*).

Make sure the vac. lines are all good.

Nothing is binding up on the t-body or cable.

If its a big enough leak it will effect the power, every exh. leak lets in some fresh air that throws off the computer alittle. I dont know if a little leak you have to stick your head into the bay to track down will be THAT bad...but it could.

i checked around the engine bay....i have a small leak from the egr tube(where the nut closes the flange end) and the header right around the tube....could it be that???? also i pulled the spout to make sure it was timed at 14*.... but just to make sure the spout has to be out to be timed right, right???

If you disconnected the battery with the car running, there's a decent chance you can fry electronics in the car. Definitely don't do that. :D

Good luck.

Yup. Most people don't believe that because old timers check the alternator this way.

I hear ya. :nice: It's tough to teach an old timer new stuff. In their day, cars had no electronics so there was nothing for the voltage spike to really destroy.

It's just a point that we try to remind folks of because so many old guys indeed do this [incorrect] test.

ok...i changed the header gaskets(i had put on the ones mac sent me)....i also got alan head bolts instead of the ones they sent me, i can tighten them better .....i also put heat tubing for the egr tube because i couldn't get the tube to set right......
