for a stock 4.6 or 5.0, they coem with 19's. and they use mass air, which reads the actual air going on.

on my jeep which is speed density, came with 23.7's on a 5.9 liter with 245hp/345tq stock. i put on full exhaust, FIPK, TB, heads, cam, intake manifold, and a mopar performance computer. went fomr a stock 14.8-15.2 quarter mile, i was running 13.5's with the stock fuel system form the tank to teh injectors.

why is it that with a 5.0 or a 4.6, once you do major mods you need bigger injectors, but i tore into my 5.9 liek nobodys business and didnt have to?

I run the stock injectors. Its when you add boost that you have the problem....the high pressure in the intake manifold means that its harder to spray the fuel out of the injectors vs with an N/A car thats pulling air in and helping slightly to draw the fuel from the injector due to the low pressure created.

The stock GT fuel system will support around 320RWHP N/A I believe. probably about what your jeep had. :)

You also have to look at duty cyle. A duty cycle of 80% will loose its consistency over time.
So you can support a certain hp with 19lb @100%DC but it is benificial and more reliable to upgrade injector size and keep your DC down and get your comp tuned for it.

There's nothing you mentioned in your Jeep mods that would require more fuel than stock injectors can move. That's why you don't need bigger ones. As said above, you hear Mustang guys talking about upgrading because they are running superchargers or turbo's. The N/A guys don't usually need to upgrade.

stock, your 5.9L was pathetic. you should be asking why they put such large injectors on your jeep.

Ill look more someother time...but this is what kenB @ MD said

"I just checked the EEC calibration for a 00 and an 03 and they both are setup for 19# injectors"

Usually the 99-mid01s had the orange and the mid 01-04 had pink.

Some other guy named "SCT GUY" (an authorized vendor...apparently from SCT) said that ALL GTs have 19# injectors. Any mustang tuner would also know for certain.
Its a very hard answer to dig up, everyone is back and forth.
