what about that 800hp turbo svo 4cylinder in 5.0 magazine. the one pulling the tires like 5 feet in the air with the 5.0 tag on the oil pan? i bet it can outrun most v-8's it encounters on the street.

i wouldnt get too worked up about it. hes just some ricer *** that knows nothing about cars.

i try to stay unbiased about import/domestic stuff and just give respect to a fast car with a lot of work put into it.

my dd is a turbo 4-banger and my weekender is a built V8. they both have there advantages/disadvantages. the GTI is rather comfortable inside and handles/brakes better than any other car ive owned and its a fun car to drive everyday, ts not the fastest car on the road but it can hold its own to an extent.

the mustang has all out power and is faster than most anything on the road around here, but it handles like a radio flyer and brakes like a semi. i wouldnt want to drive it everyday cuz of fuel economy.

but that guy seems like thick headed ricer douchbag, but there are domestic guys like that too.

i dont know what im trying to get at here so im just gonna stop.

One thing about the the turbo making up for displacement, look at it this way. A stock 1.8L Honda Civic puts out 105hp roughly, a decent turbo kit bumps it up to 180 hp. If you figure out hp/L ratio and you can say the displacement is gonna get you up around 3.4L roughly, which is still 1.6L short of your 5.0's (4.9 if you wanna get technical).
As for why people do imports, it goes all the way to the begining of cars, Model T guys complaining about Flatheads, inline 6's to V8's, blah blah blah. People have always complained about the new cars that come out and "aren't as good as the old school." Remember when you were a kid and dad said "that 73 mustang still isn't as good as my trusty 49 Chevy Truck" and you said "blah, what does he know" or something to that tune. Same thing applies here.
I've owned a 64 Falcon that I put a 351W in and numerous other old school Fords, and I have a 1981 Toyota Celica that i've swapped a 4age motor in from Japan. The reason I like my Celica so much is that the work and effort I put into it to get more hp was waaay more complicated then getting power out of a 5.0. Have any of you out there even messed with a fuel computer?
I'm only 24 years old and I have never ever heard 1 "kid" bashing V8's, so why must it be the other way around.
And where do you think a Mitsubishi Eclipse rolls off the line? Normal Illinois. Where does a Honda roll of the line, where does a Toyota roll off the line, look it up. Where does your Ford Taurus roll of the line, Mexico.
And as for all this I pulled up to the line and raced this ricer blah blah blah, everyone forgets 99% of it has to due with the driver, if the driver can't drive 2000hp isn't gonna make a difference, he's gonna get smoked.
Like I said, i'm only 24 and have did old school, 92 LX hatch turbo 4(in the process of a 5.0 swap), and the imports. They all have there pros and cons.
This is just my 2 cents.

Stock 1.8L Hondas make minumum 135hp in non-VTEC Integras, and up to 200hp on the Integra Type-R. Turbo puts them over 250whp, depending on starting point. I've also been around long enough to know that HP/L means dick all, only HP/WT. But still..you can quote me on this..I'd rather build a high HP Japanese engine than an American V8. Doing more with less is wicked.

I also love how you're all calling him a stupid/retarded ricer, etc. If, in fact the Eclipse did NOT have a turbo, and an AOD, 2.73 car walked just a 140hp Eclipse (even a GS-T is a handful for the 16 second 5.0), you all would look pretty damn stupid, wouldn't you? He wouldn't be saying anything technically wrong, and you would all be bagging on him for owning a "ricer car" that "only has a 4 cylinder" and "making excuses". A couple of comments here pissed me off. One - "even if ricers are fast ther still gay!" That's an ignorant and trollish opinion. Give respect where respect is due. I just love how in the NOPI series, Manny Buginga's turbo 5.0 gets waxed everytime by the 8 second Supra. Next..racing him then yelling "you're gay" after? What the **** is wrong with you? What does this do for you..does it make you look cool? Does it help the fact that 5.0 owners are regarded as cockiest and worst behaved group in the car world? The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. All of you domestic/Ford/Mustang trolls seriously make me sick and ashamed of owning a 5.0L.

Umm, Mannys car doesnt run 8s, it runs 7s, so how again is an 8 second Supra running him down, unless NOPI is making him tune it slower. Last I TALKED to Manny or his Pit guys, he was doing really well in the NOPI series. Also an 8 second anything has nothing to do with the ricers on the street. Read my post and you will see, its power to weight. Plus your talkng about a Supra, a car that is RARELY confused with rice, because it has insane potential out of the box. The only downside is the IRS that kills traction.

I agree with the imports are gay, and ricer generalizing with foreign cars, and know a LOT of cocky loudmouth Mustang owners who make the group of us look bad. I just think your going about defending them wrong.

That and Manny is well known and regaurded in the Mustang racing community, who cares if some Supra in a class he DID NOT BUILD FOR might beat him. He by NO means gets waxed, and should not be brought into a debate about ricers to back up foreign cars.

The reason I brought up the L/HP ratio is someone mentioned that the turbo will make up for the displacement, a turbo doesn't make up for displacement. And RS200 I agree with you. When I had my Falcon kids will all the time roll up to me and say "Nice car" but when I'm out in the Celica, I get alot of older guys saying "get the Import p.o.s. off the road". And honestly, I'm tired of hearing it from the older crowd, you guys need to grow up calling a car "gay". And if you were in your 5.0 and a Diablo pulled up to you at the line and you beat it, of course you would brag, I would too of course. So give credit were credit is due, just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to bash it or you get your feelings hurt because you got beat by a 4 cylinder.
And some people have to realize, they can't drive. Heck I beat a Vette once in my Pinto, was that cuz the Pinto is souped up, no its bone stock, other dude counldn't drive.

They use that excuse for the same reason Mustang guys use the excuse "it's just a 5 liter or 4.6 liter vs. the 5.7 LS1".....it's the same no matter who you're racing.

Any underdog is going to play their weaknesses as an excuse. Less cylinders or less cubes or no power adder...it's all the same...just talkin out your ass. In the words of the great Vin Diesel, "In the end, winning is winning whether it's by an inch or by a mile. I live my life 10 seconds at a time"

word.

hey rs200, you built your b16 or b18c vtec all motor, against my 5.0 with a hci vs your hci honda, who will win? Yes they are potent little bastards but the thing is you have to put soooo much in em to get anything out of em, My buddy had a 95 gsr b18c, everything done to the engine except nos or turbo or blower, still only ran at best a 9.9, shiftin at 8200. Yeah a stock aod stang might run that, BUT, if he so puts a cam heads and intake and gears and a converter, he could be in the 8's very solidly, it takes a honda alot to go into the 8's in the 8th. then put a blower on the honda, good, then put a blower on the stang and you have 11's or 13's with the honduh. Catch my drift? I tried to do this with the svo, pushin 30psi was fun and shiftin at 7k, would beat a stock 5.0 by 5 cars, but it had constant maintenance probs, warpin heads and blowin gaskets, tuning out the ass was also a problem. I personally just dont like hondas and ive had 2 of em, they get good gas though!! LOl

Well...i will say this.....be weary of gutted Civic hatch backs with built engines on spray.....they don't weigh jack crap and make enough power to get up and go almost like a motorcycle. There was a dude around here with a Civic with pretty much no interior except for the dash and a roll cage, i think was a B18 but not sure, and he had 2 bottles in the back with who knows how much shot on it. Once that car got traction it was GONE.

What about the Mustang 2? Ya, there are some nice ones, but where are most of them, in a junk yard, front end cut up, or got crushed. A Honda Civic first came out in 1974, and Honda's have respect, just not from you arrogant pricks.
