I've been on these boards for a while, and just watched them long before I joined. Most of the more senior members here know me, although I dont post that often. Lately it just seems that this subsection of Stangnet has turned pretty lame.

Before I joined, and intially when I joined, it comprised of a bunch of guys that liked the hobby, that were enjoyable to talk to and would share with us their passion. Always had picture threads, write ups, progress threads, humour, etc. It was just a decent place to wind down after work.

From that, it went to less of those types of thread, to complete and utter derailment of every thread created, which for the most part was distracting and irritating but sometimes comical.

Now...its the same **** all the time, and people just seem to be more ignorant towards other members. It comes in all groups, but if you're gonna post on an online forum about a hobby we all enjoy whats the point in being belligerent idiots.

Thoughts?

J/K man

Just had to pull a classic Dman. Anyways I agree to an extent. I would assume I am part of the problem, but your car is my favorite notch so maybe you can let it slide

its not the derailment of threads that bother me, but alot of the times the topics, this past week rice was in the topic of at least 5 of them when i was scrolling across the first page of threads, who cares big wing blah blah i dont post that much at all but the topics themselves don't really make me want to comment except for the occasionally derailement of a thread......

ok heres my idea of what happens. im a regular poster on 32 different forums dealing with cars. im an admin/mod on 3 of the forums. over the past few years ive noticed that during the summer you will have more threads get OT. its prob because more people are sitting at home and kids still in school just picked up their first car with summer money.

thats my idea of what happens every year.

The mods have become too lax, and thus stangnet is spiraling toward the way of mustang world. Plus you have a lot of young ignorant people who have nothing to do but post on here. They really should create a whore lounge for the useless b/s that is posted on a day to day basis in here. Or if there is already one, move threads and preen the decent one of derailment.

While the corral is worse than it used to be its still not on stangnets level yet.

This place is much more civilizied than the corral.

I do agree that 'some' of the 5.0 Talk subjects should go over to the Banana...Hammock....

Easy, guys & gals. We're all fans of the same car here.

If you don't like someone's post in a thread that you started or are participating in, use the "report bad post" feature, or PM your local Moderator. Staff cannot be everywhere, at every time, but we do our best to make sure there is a community here that is free of spam, hostility, and blatant ignorance.

Talk forums are essentially "tribal lounges" for you all to enjoy. The Off-topic forum is for you to enjoy as well. Tech is sacred and people should NOT clutter up Tech with senseless content.

There are a handful of regulars (not going to mention any names) who seem to post something useless or otherwise generally dickheadish almost every time they post. Whether its something that is not their taste, or an opinion they have on any other topic, many seem to come across as if they feel theirs is the word of God and anyone who disagrees is an idiot. That is probably the biggest thing I hate about this board. I have been a member for 6 years now and it used to be alot better. I am still gonna hang around, though. At least StangNet has a much more easy going feel than Corral. The few times I have posted on there I felt like I was having my head ripped off by the replies. Many of those guys take things waaaay too seriously.

I think more people need to bite their tongue when they're about to post. Opinions are one thing but a lot of posts are borderline insults anymore. The tattoo thread is a perfect example....instead of one person saying "it's not my thing, i would advise against it" they've gotta bring out racist comments like "white trash". To me that's reason enough for a vacation out of here for a while, but i'm not a mod so that's not my place to say.

I agree it's getting a lot like Corral...though not as bad yet. I honestly thought twice about posting my thread about my Merkur last night because i figured someone would eventually be an ass and spurt out all the little things they can't stand about it...that crap is just pointless.

Agreed.

I think another huge part of the problem is the useless threads by all the immature ignorant "kids" we have. I say "kids" because a lot of them are older than me, but they sure don't act it. I hate having to weed through 5 rice threads every day. I don't like "rice" either, but I'm not about to start making rediculous threads and posts to announce it to the world. There are a few imports that I don't mind at all, and would even drive. It may not be legitimate because this is a brand specific forum, but another thing that really bothers me is the hatred towards other brands, even domestic (GM). I'm open to just about anything that's tasteful and fast. I grew up taught to like GM products, and I do, but I like Mustangs too. I know everyone is a little brainwashed, and likes what they were taught to like, but at least have a little bit of knowledge or experience on what you are about to make a completely ignorant and senseless post about. But, maybe I'm wrong Maybe that's how the place should be, a big ignorant GM/rice bashfest. They say ignorance is bliss.

A lot of it has to do with the sheer size of this place and the number of members. As the population increases, so does the chance of not-so-great members joining and posting useless BS.
