Why doesn't anyone make billet grilles?

I started a thorough search for a billet grille for a 67-68, and after calling EVERY mustang parts vender in existance that I know of, I'm wondering why no one makes one.

My original plan was to make one, so I'm going to go look around tonight to see what kind of stuff I can find to start out with.

I did see one in a Mustang mag once but the link to it was something else.

there is a company that makes 65-66 grills. maybe bug them till they give in on a 67-68.i think it mear racing or something like that.maybe someone else has more info

Pyro is correct; they just recently came out for 67-68. Check the websites as they won't be in their old catalogues.

Mustangsplus and Mustangdepot don't have them, at least it's not on the site and I've never heard of Cal-mustang, but I'm going to check them.

Oh, and please, go on if you want, it will just give me more chances to find one.

To answer your question: it is simple economics. Apparently there is insufficient demand to justify producing and marketing them.

I would like to see a car with the grill mounted. I have been considering purchasing on for a while but I want to see one in a car. It is either that or blacking out the grill.

Yeah we sell them. Our brand is exclusive...

There are at least one other manufacturer on the market but they bolt together and have large spacing between the fins. We had these manufactured by a top quality grill man. because the ones out there were crap!

Ours are welded together and they have approx 30-40% more fins...
They bolt to the stock locations as well...

We are in the process of finishing one for the gravel shields 65-68...

SD You're mistaken on the demand. These are moving pretty good!

mdjay: I stand by my reasoning. Economics abhors a vacuum. If the demand is great enough, ANYTHING is available. This also applies to many things beyond Mustangs.

It would seem there is now an awareness of the demand for billet grilles therefore they are being produced by enterprises such as yours that see the chance to make some $$$. Nothing wrong with that.

BTW, demand is the willingness and ABILITY to purchase an item. End of lecture.

Do you think you could ask one of these companies that make grilles if they could make a one-off job? Sure it would be more expensive than the ones they sell, but they have the tools and skills to do it, so they would be the best to get the job done IMO.

i saw in a Mustang and Fords issue a while back there was a 67-68 grille made by [i believe] Kar Krafters or something like that. Auto Krafters? monkey in a jar? i don't remember...

the lower mustangdepot grille looks kinda wierd. kinda looks huge, but i think it's the angle of the slats that make it look odd.

The upper and lower are the same in height. The upper is just covered by the hood. However, you can trim one or two of the fins off to make it look smaller. The idea here is to provide protection for your radiator.

SD: I'm a little confused by your condescending tone! This philosophy is obvious. Your initial quote was not put into question, it was referenced specifically to the grills. It was meant on a much lighter note. You're pretty defensive SD!

mdjay: Condescention way not my intent; I was simply answering the poster's original question. The forum functions best if we address the question asked rather than let the topic drift and become long and rambling. This board as a great range of knowlege,ability, skill,experience, financial, age and educational levels; why not acknowledge that fact.

Personally, I'd rather see more specific topics and shorter discussions to follow. Too often threads become too long and are often not entirely read by respondents. The poster asked why billet grilles are not available for his car. My reason may not be "obvious" to some of the younger people on the board.

Parts for our cars are readily avialable for our cars LARGELY because there are lots of them and they are popular. How else can you explain it?

As I have stated twice before, the philosophy was stated, (simple supply and demand economics) taken note, now it's redundant!
