I pulled my upper intake off the other day and man, where it connects to the lower inside all 8 intake tubes they are just black. it I know it has to be oil or something getting there but why? I know something is screwed up because the car smoked really bad out the tails.

actually guys... it is the PCV!! the oil is from the PCV system. Changed the PCV valve lately??? No??? that is pretty normal!! it should be changed at 60 K and the more wear on the engine the more the system sucks up and guess where it goes... yep, right down the intake!!!

Just me..........................

yes thumper, but changing it doesnt necessarly change the problem. There have been many proposed solutions for the pcv sucking oil into the intake. It is really bad in the cobra/gt-40 intakes. If you absolutely want to get rid of it and minimize it, a fabrication of a air/oil separator is about the only thing that will work...

You think that's bad, pull the heads! I pulled my heads off with 120K miles on the clock. They looked like flat tops with just lines for valve reliefs. I got to cleaning, and cleaning. Carbon had completly filled the valve reliefs as well as the dished part of the piston. I do induction services regulary, so I could imagine a car which hasn't even had that done.

Yes i have changed the pcv not too long ago, But i mean The car smoked Horribly bad though. Could it be drawing that much Oil into the intake to cause the car to smoke? plus i am going to be getting a newer longblock soon so hopefully I wanna make sure i fix that problem before i install everything back on my car.

My intake sucked up a quart of oil in a day through the PCV. Enough to foul a plug. That was with a new screen and PCV valve. So I plugged the PCV and the Vac on the intake. No more oil in my intake and the car runs better too. No more smoke out the tails when I punch it either. The crankcase vents from a filter attached to a hose coming from the valve cover, which I routed into the passenger side fenderwell. I'll get some pics later maybe. Doesn't get as much attention as a big filter sticking out of the valve cover, looks stock to the untrained eye.
