Why is my car so slow???

60' times were 2.2 all 3 runs, i drive fine but i know those kumo's are killing me with the 4.10's. the 4.10's made all the difference in the world on the street. i can fell how much faster it is with those, i just figured it would show on the track. guess not. anyone want to sell me an t-5 swap kit from an aode? ha i hate my tranny.

Do you hit your rev limiter a lot? Your shift points are probably off since the gear swap. Do you allow the trans to shift or do you do it manually? When I did my 4.10's I saw a slight gain (2 10's) but couldn't get more until I got a chip burned with new shift points and changing the rev limiter. I belive you said you had a MSD if so make sure your rev limiter is set high on that (above 6000) and clean your MAF senser. Go to the track and manually shift at about 5200 (you'll most likly have to shift at about 4800 to get it to engage at 5200) and see if your results are better. A good stall converter makes a huge difference on AODE's and DR's don't hurt either. I have similar mods and run 14.6 with 1.9 60' but I have a converter. I would guess you should have a 14.9 or better waiting.

That's why I went with 3.73's! LOL.

Surprising how many guys I've heard say that they got the same or worse et's with 4.10's yet everyone says "get 4.10's if you have an auto!" When I was stock I ran 15.2 at 91. Then with nothing more than CAI, Pullies, H-pipe WITH cats, catback, 3.73's I went 14.7. With nitto d/r's I dropped to 14.4 at 96mph. Oh and BTW I could only manage 2.089 60's so its not like I was getting outta the whole a LOT faster than you.

I think red95aodevert may be on the rigth track. Check your shift points next time and make sure your not hitting the rev limiter. Also a good tune up isnt a bad idea. Good luck

later.

Going by your ET alone does NOTHING for comparison of before and after... post your whole timeslips for both and we'll tell you what's wrong. ;-)

Follow the link in my signature on the Group Buy and watch the video. Which one does your car look like? The before or after?

Give us a good post on how you launch, what your car does, and where you shift at and how your car feels. Every car is different, so make a lengthy post with information... too much will get you a better answer than not enough.

To me, any advice being given so far can't really be that accurate until people know if your MPH dropped or raised and your time changes as you go down the track vs. your launch (60ft).

That's my 2 cents....

True, your car is pretty heavy and an auto. But with Et's you mentoned are a bit low even if you had stock gears. I would give your car a good tune up (plugs, distributer, plug wires, pcv, fuel filter, oil) check your timing and work on those launches. If you have a LOT of miles, your motor could be tired. Good luck!

I'm guessing you are a 5-speed owner or live in an area of the country that is better for drag racing (IE better times) - in the area I live, 94-95 AODEs that are stock run 15.9s with an occasional 15.8 in the bunch. I FINALLY ran a 15.4-15.5 with gears and a shift kit.

But in your defense, I will also go from a 14.8 to a 15.2 just by having my fuel pressure 4 psi to high. :nonono:

I do live below sea level (Sacramento), which could be a bit of an advantage, but I have definatly seen stock or very lightly moded aode's run faster than 15.8's. Not by much (a couple tenths) though. If a bone-stock auto is in proper tune with maybe a bump in timing, good gas, spare tire removed, and minimal tire spin, there is no reason why someone couldn't run a 15.5.

I think you should put in a shift kit, maybe a stall(depends on how much money ya got), the pullies, of course, and the rest is just getting rid of weight.
For example, take the extra carpet out of your trunk and put the battery in there, take the dang weight out of the fender, etc. etc. etc. just do a search

Sac town in the house! What's up man? My names Mondo I live in the Bay area and I usually go to sac when I wanna race. That's where I ran 15.2 bone stock (although I had 3.27's from the factory) so I think sac is a good place for quick et's. I was planning on going out there this sat but the rain ruined my plans. Have you ever made it out for those Friday night test and tune sessions? I think that's all they have going on for the rest of the year. but I want to get back out there this year and try for 13's.

3.27s would make a nice difference. :D Mine had the blessed "2.73s"

:nonono:

Yeah I didnt even know until some one put up a thread asking which gears do I have and someone told them the factory codes for each gear. I thought hey maybe I should check cause I knew my grandpa had a lead foot. Sure enough 3.27's. Now it makes sense why I have such good stock et's. but FWIW when i wasnt launching it doing a brake stand the best I could manage was a 15.5. So I think my technique did have something to do with it. :D

I may have to tune for N/A just so I can beat your time. :rlaugh:

That and my car hasn't been running that good lately. Been dieing a lot.... :bang: It's in bad need of a tune up.

Go ahead! Then I'll go buy a stall converter and take the lead again! LOL :rlaugh:

I'm hoping for 13's next time I go since I have added a ported lower manifold and a Pro M maf since last time I went. But more than likely still be running low 14's.

Whats up Mondo? Yeah people have some pretty fast stangs in our area. I've been out to the illegal races a few times, I don't know about the bay, but around here they are really cracking down on those guys. The illegals got to riced-out anyways. I was sick of a bunch of 16 year old ricers with 2,000 dollars in stolen parts on thier multi-colored civics saying mustangs are slow when they need all those mods to run with stock mustangs and stock cameros. Anyways, a 15.2 is a pretty good time with only 3:27's. I just bought my 95Gt 2 weeks ago. It's a bone-stock auto with 48K miles. I am going to grab some mods over the winter, am by next spring I want to take her out too the track and shoot for mid-low 14's. It's been raining like a bi*ch around here. Right when I get my stang, It has to start pouring rain. :bang:

Yeah they cracked down on it BIG TIME around here too. Impounding cars and all. Never really been my scene anyway. Im not trying to lose my car or my life messing around with some dumb a** ricers. But definitely post up on here whenever your heading to the track. I'll come through for sure. And Congrats on the new purchase. Be prepared to spend every extra dollar you have on her! :D

Yeah man, once I decide to head out to sac raceway i'll let you know. I also don't care for the illegal street race scene. I went out there 3 or 4 times when they used to race, since it was only a 15 minute drive from my house, but I would NEVER race anyone there. That s**t is way too out of control. And yes, i plan to put a bit of cash into my stang. I wish i had some mods from my old 5.0.

Yeah, sorry to whoever stared the thread.

I did post something like week or two ago. It was along the lines of, "just got my 95gt" or something similar. It's an automatic. :flag:

So where did the slow guy go and where are his timeslips? We're keeping your thread alive my friend, so get them posted as soon as you can. :D

:bang: damn nitrous! Always trying to hold the poor man down arent you gcomfx? :D LOL. I've been leaning towards that zex kit myself but I cant ever seem to decide if I should stay NA and buy a set of heads, buy the nitrous kit or go s/c'd. Decisions decisions. Everything but the bottle is a long ways off thats why it always seems to look like the best option. Oh well maybe next yr.

I went nitrous first, then heads and cam. No sense in stoppin' the sprayin when those go on. Same goes for a super charger. :D

What do you mean poor? Nitrous IS the poor man's super charger. Unless you become an addict like my car is... then it cost more. :nonono:

That's another thing this guy could do if he's only after track times.
