Why the !@#$ are SOHC cams so expensive?

Hardly gettin raped.......

2 things....you are getting 2 cams and the volume is not there compared to the pushrod world, thus no great quantity deals on billet blanks, no volume means higher margin to offset the cost, etc,etc, on and on......

The price is inversely proportional to the number of lobes on each camshaft.
Thats why a cam for a pushrod V8 costs 2 x as much.

See why VT guys are good. Now only if their CL was where I need it.

how much does the metal cost for 2 cams?
Or anyone else, how much does that piece of steel, cost?

not sure about prices but don't forget the Research&developement, machining, and workers. Not to mentention the old law of "supply and demand"

I don't understand you logic. roller camshafts are alwasy around $250. we need two camshafts. 2x250=500.

I wish they were cheaper too I just don't understand why you think you are getting raped.
