When i first saw the concept for the new 05 mustang i was drooling like a dog, now that i see what they have done with it im a bit dissapointed in it. Dont get me wrong i still love the car and and its great in every way, but its just changed a bit and is not what i was expecting. I was really looking forward to it since it had all the right details to a late 60's fastback model. From the 2 front hood scoops(VERY NICE) to the side scoops (which i think looks a million times better then the production design). Its just too bad they changed it it would have just made a mint car look even better. On another note has anyone heard about a SVT version of this model. I know there is one comming out by 07, and hopefully is will look more like the concept, for if it does i will surely be the first in like to buy!

any info is appreciated.
Thanks

actually it hasnt changed at all basically they made the concept after the production version to aide in publicity and to get aftermarket companies interested so it actaully hasnt changed you just saw it in the wrong order!!! cad images of the production version leaked before the concept did!! sorry you didnt start lookin earlier or you would have at least expected ur disappointment if not changed ur mind!!

- the 18" wheel option is going to make the car look 10 times better.

the bullit style wheels look good but the machined style wheels make

the car look like a honda accord coupe.

2 seater yes unrealistic but the glass roof may be an option for next year, so its not that unrealistic. Plus the real dissapointment is the exterior. Especially the 2 hood scoops and side scoops.

The glass roof has already been shown by classic design concepts. If all you are dispointed in is hte lack of scoops. Check the after market. The concept hood is sure to be out soon.

Alot of styling details, like the hood and the scoops and even the Shelby-esque taillights, I'm certain were "previews" of future Mustang special-editions to come. The concept was a sneak peak at not just what the production GT would kinda look like, but also what you may see for styling cues in years to come. If Ford had emptied their ENTIRE bag of tricks on the GT right out of the gate, what would they have in the pipeline for future Cobras or Shelbys or Bosses???? It makes sense that they came out conservative, because it gives them a great baseline from which to evolve from. The original 65-66 GT Mustang had no special hood, no side scoops, no special valance, no special taillights, it was clean and classic, and future hot models evolved from there. I believe that Ford is simply repeating history, reliving an EXTREMELY successful recipe of getting the car-buying world "hooked", and then keeping them on the hook each successive year with new looks and features... Everybody screaming for the entire shebang right out of the gate has to get real....this platform and bodystyle has to last a real long time in order for Ford to someday turn a profit on all the up-front design, engineering and tooling investment. Business is a bitch.

I for one love the clean, mature look of the sleek stang. I don't think we will see any side scoops because they don't 'go anywhere'. But if Ford does decide to add scoops on the hood, please make them functional like on the concept.

We finally have a refined design that needs no tacked on junk to stand out. I have yet to see an aftermarket '05 Mustang that looks better in any way than the factory car, IMO. I do like the GT-R concept though, but as a racecar.

Personnally i dont care for any of the hood scoops that i've seen on the 05 stangs. They look tacky. I think the only real good looking one is the one on the concept. imo that looked the best.

Although when and if they make a new mach, im sure it will look good.

I have a buddy whos father works as a salesman for Ford in Canada. He says that they just got in some info about the SVT. I don't know if it's bull**** or not so don't shoot the messenger. He said that the SVT is going to be producing just over 400 horses, can smoke all four tires, will start production some time in mid-Sept. early Oct., and will run somewhere in the mid to upper thirties. They didn't get any word on the looks yet, but everybody wants that double-scooped hood.

True in some cases. But not all. The original '63 Mustang concept looked a LOT like the '65 that came out later. And the current production T-Bird is virtually identical to the concept. Same with the Chevy SSR.

One concept car I wish they would produce is the Ford Forty-Niner. Awesome!
