SO i am thinking about getting the speed of sound gauge pillar for my 04 gt. SO I like the cobalt series boost gauge the 30psi vac and 20psi boost. and their wideband. I was just wondering what I have to to install the gauges and wideband? Do I have to weld in an o2 bung?
Wideband install is pretty easy. U have to wire up a switched power wire, ground for the box and the guage and then tap into the head lamp circuit for the light/dimmer on the guage.
You also need to have an 02 welded onto ur existing h/x pipe needs to be as close to ur factory sensor (front) as possible on the driver side. My LM-2 advised to have it welded between 10 and 2 on the pipe to make sure no condensation jacks with the reading. Real easy install. Just find a good spot to mount the brain, away from as many heat sources as possible.
Yeah, it's easiest to put it in the existing rear bung...I asked about this a while back and got enough people that said you can just use the existing bung for the wideband.
I wrapped the hardware itself around the subframe connector on the DR side (with extra large zip ties), and routed the wires for the gauge and power up thru the shifter boot.
The SOS gauge pod is the bomb - it's pricey, but it looks the best, IMO. I'm planning for the same when I install my wideband and FP gauge back in my newest Mustang. (Be sure you get it for the 03-04 pillar...the 99-02 was much thinner and wont work in your 04. (New rollover restrictions came about in 2003, hence the beefer pillar))
