On my g/fs 01 GT we went from 235/45/17s on the rear to 275/40/17 and what a world of difference.

Before with the 235s I was having a hell of a time trying to launch without spinning. Now with the 275s I can slip at around 3000-3500 and it just grabs and takes the **** off.

I highly recommend anyone having traction issues and looking for a advantage over those other guys with those stocker tires

235s are a little skinny considering that the OEM stock size is 245.

Yeah 245 is stock width, so I bet 275 make a huge difference over 235's.

Yeah I know stock is 245, when we bought the car the dealership mustve took a set of 235s they had and said "itd be perfect for that stang"
Yes they are a huge improvement.
I do want to get lightweight 17" wheels though. I did notice the extra 4-5lbs per tire on the car.

yea, tires are really important if you want to launch your car. I loved my DRs when I had them. Traction is a good prob. to have.

I wish I had them when I raced my buddies 97 cobra. ALL because of the launch the best I could do was tie with him.
But now he has 275s also AND pullies and a tune

I have a o/r x pipe on the way but Im going to need a few more bolt ons to be able to compete
