Widest Tires on MY 00 MUSTANG GT??

Hi I have a 00 Mustang GT.
I just got a good deal on four 17"X8 bullitt Rims. I was wondering if anyone knew how wide of a tire I can slap on these beasts? I would like to put the widest possible all around so I can rotate them in the future. Would anyone KNOW?

question..can he go 275/35/17 or no??when i was asking if a 275/40/18 tire will fit on a 18x8 wheel..u guys were saying it wont look right.

275/35 on 8in rims i don't think they will it maybe 40's.

I thought 255's were the widest you should put on the 17X8 rim because of tire flex

I believe the widest tire you can "safely" put on that size wheel is 255.
I think a 275 will fit, but you are taking a chance on ruining your wheel,
tire or the tire slipping off the rim. I would go with 255's, nice n' fat and
safe. Go with Nitto 555 extremes. $145 a piece on discounttire.com.

255 is you follow manufactures specs.

275 can be put on there if you are lucky. Depending on brand you might have a lot of side wall bulge. I do not that you can deffinetly put 275 nitto drag radilas on a 8" rim. I have sen it before, and it look ok. It seem that their drag radials run a little narrow.

does it matter if its a low pro 35 or a 40 series tire?

The profile will effect the side wall hieght or absically the diameter of the tire. A 40 series would have more sidewall then a 35, and should be esier to intall on a narrower rim. You would have to check the diameter of the tires to see which you could use.

you can run a 275/40ZR17 on those rims but they will not grip as good as ther 255 or 265.. Yeah there is alot of sidewall buldge there it looks alrght but take the money you were going to spend on the tires and get the rims WIDENED to a 10" rims then run some 305-315s

Is there any negatives to running a 255/45/17 on a stock bullit? I was wondering the same thing because of the lack of protection on the rim...I am tired of scraping the curb and having nothing to protect or touch the curb first. would a 255 tire take care of this problem?

Still doing a LOT of research on this and the latest... for stock, 255s OR 275s WILL work finewith 2-3 pounds lower on air pressure.

Also, Kumho Escta MX would be, in all I've read, the best tire for the money if you're staying off track... Nittos if you go to the track.

Also, yes, the Nittos do run narrower...
