I have an AODE and sometimes when I'm idling normally in drive and I switch to reverse, it almost dies then idles back up real quick. Happens when going from reverse to drive.

It doesnt do it all the time tho.

Any ideas?

I'm not too familiar with automatics, but that sounds like your stall converter. Since you went to higher gears, when you switch reverse it has a harder time keeping the revs up because of the final drive ratio. You guys have aftermarket stalls?

Well ... at the moment you switch from drive to reverse, you're stopped, so it can't be the gear ratio change. Perhaps something that was taken off for the gear swap wasn't hooked back up afterwards. Even the T-5 has a couple electrical connections, I'm betting the AODE has more :).

If the motor is running a little rough, it will be more likely to stall, because of the instant load from switching the gears from park to reverse.

I just got in the habit of not holding the brake so much, and letting the truck roll a little so it wouldn't stall.
