Wierd rattling sound

Theres a wierd rattling sound by my powersteering pump, its off and on and sometimes it wont do it for a while ride and sometimes it does it 3-4 times and will rattle for a 2-3 minutes at a time.
Also how full should my PS pump be with oil? I checked it and it seemed quite full almost too full maybe? Theres no gauge to tell from...

Are you sure it's coming from near the PS pump. I had problems with rattle on my SN95. A slight metal rattle. On again, off again. Eventually, it got progressively worse. Turned out to be the brake dust shields. The factory used rivots and they eventually rust away from the elements. The rattle starts out slight and barely perceptable. I really could not pinpoint it until it got so bad that it started doing it at idle when the rivot finally disintegrated and broke in half. I fixed it with a nut/bolt and locktite. After a few months it happened again on the opposite side of the car. Same remedy, no problems since.

Don't know if this is your problem, but its worth investigating.... Unless you are sure that it is coming from the PS pump.

sounds like a a/c or the tension tension will do it on and off eventually it will be insanlly loud if your that worried i would slip the belt off and spin the tension and check to see if the bearing is goin. if not it then just start checking everything else power steering normally tends to make more of a whinning noise espically fords

my car now if the 4th ford i owned and this one doesnt make any noise the fuild is nasty looking but i dont wanna touch it cause it will if i **** with it.

upon further investigation it seems like it may be coming from the A/C (which is NOT working currently)
my dad took a very quick look and suggested it may be the A/C clutch??
I just need to know if its saef enough to drive for a few weeks till i can take it to a mechanic.

Old trick is to take a long dowel rod and touch each thing while the other end of the rod is next to your ear.

The guilty thing will show up quickly.

Be cautious of the spinning belt and pulleys, lol.
