Will 5.4L PI Heads fit on our 4.6L?

Title says it all. What about from a 5.4l lightning? What's the geometrical size difference between the 5.4l and the 4.6l. Will the tranny bolt up? Has anybody swapped a 5.4 into a mustang?

That's such a f***ing ugly hood, I don't care how big a cowl hood I need, I'd cover it.

But will the heads work?

There's no reason to go with 5.4L heads unless your going to use a 5.4L engine. Basically with some small differences all dohc mod heads are the same and all sohc heads are the same. The intake on navigator heads flow slightly more than most other 5.4L DOHC heads but thats about it. If you want to do headswap just do a complete motor swap and have p&p work done at the same time and internals forged as well.

I found a set of 5.4l PI heads. That's why I was asking. The block threw a rod, so the block is fooked, but the heads are fine. Also, is the 5.4l intake wider than the 4.6l intake (like the 302 & 351W intakes)? I'm a noob to the 4.6 world, but have a 357W outputting 505 hp at the crank.

the 5.4L SOHC (windsor) heads are exactley the same as the 99-00 GT's. they will fit any 4.6L. the only difference between them and the Romeo heads are the valve covers and the way the cam gear is fixed to the cam. neither of which will be a problem. a 5.4L intake will not fit a 4.6L.

Romeo heads = 4.6L?

Would it be a direct bolt up with the cams already intact on the 5.4 heads? will the 'romeo' valve covers work?

Thanks for the info, you're the man!

The intakes aren't going to work because of height etc. This was the biggest issue with swapping heads with different motors. You might do a search on corral. They have alot of 5.4L head threads that may have more specifics on what will match with what. I remember that with a 5.4L swap into a GT you NEED a better intake than the navigator motors would provide because the runners were for torque only and really choked off the motor when it spun up.
