will a 93 cluster work in a 88?

I want to swich from the 85mph cluster i have now to the 140mph unit.
i found one localy from a 93. does anybody know if it will work.
or do i need a 87,88,89 unit.

The 90-93 cluster is not a direct fit into an 87-89. They were different due to the aribag on the 90-93 models.

BUT...you can take just the 93 speedometer out of the 93 cluster, trim it up a bit, and put it in your cluster. that's what i did. can't tell at all, looks factory.
