Will a 93 Cobra intake fit inside a 94 GT Convertible?

Bought a 94 GT convertible a few weeks ago and purchased my first mod, the 87-93 cobra intake upper and GT/40 lower (NOS from Ebay). I also ordered the 94-95 elbow adapter, so I though I was all set.
However, when I called my local Ford garage to set up an install, they said it wouldn't fit, that it would be too high and hit my hood blanket, damage my new intake, and possibly not allow my hood to shut.
I then called Ford Racing Tech line to see if I had any options, and they told me just the opposite, that the set up would actually be too low and hit the valve covers, and that I would need either a 1/2 inch or 1 inch spacer, but couldn't tell me which one.
I'm really confused, I'm about ready to re-sell the intakes and leave the mods to the younger generation.
Help!
thanks,
Mitch

That's the first I'v heard of this. There are a few guys here runing the explorer set up which is basically the same as the fox cobra intake(87-93) and they're are doing just fine.

I have the explorer intake (alot like the 93 cobra), the only thing that will not work is the stock strut tower brace will not clear the upper intake. No biggie. I swapped to fox alum. vavle covers and they are taller than the crappy stamped steel ones we have stock, I do have a very small pice of the elbow hitting the covers, it will bolt on fine, just touches enough to scrape the paint. I just ground if down as it was a casting part and had no real importance just too big. This elbow was the el cheapo perf. products one though so it could just be that things casting.

I also had to extend the big vac. line that goes to the tee in the elbow, along with the FPR vac. line, and one of the little vac. lines (one is red the other is green) that go to that tee.
