im putting together my 94 and i dont have the 94-95 specific tfi or heatsink. i have a bunch of the older 87-93 style ones, and saw a diagram where the pinouts on the plug were the same, just curious if i can just cut off tose top three prongs and mount it to a heatsink instead of buying one. i have some heatsionks and its gonna be mounted in the fender so it doesnt have to look good. anyone do this?

What diagram did you look at? The SN TFI and both of the fox TFI's are all different from eachother AFAIK.

And since the SN PIP uses rising and falling edge input from the PIP, I dont know how that would work.

I am not saying yes or no - just what came to mine at first blush.

FWIW, Some Ford vans that are akin to foxes have remote mounted TFI's - it is something I have meant to retrofit onto my 88 GT vert.

Good luck.

I don't think it will work. Look at the diagrams the top pin of the 87-93 is "PIP Out" and the 94-95 is "PIP In". If you use the early TFI version it will be looking for the PIP signal on the pins you cut off.

You can buy mine (both the heatsink and the TFI module) for $30 shipped! I'll even throw in the pigtail if you want it! Let me know-Jeff

It works. I used a Fox TFI in the factory heat sink for about six months. Just snipped off the three prongs that would attach it to the distributor and taped it off. I've since put the correct TFI in for our years.

It does work, but why not just go to Autozone and get the right one...comes with a lifetime warranty.
