Will a main girdle work with a 4-bolt Boss 302?

I have been told their aren't really any girdles made for 4-bolt main blocks, but I don' see what the difference would be.

What are you trying to accomplish with the main gurdle? A girdle doesn't add any integrity to the block itself.

A main girdle doesnt add strength as companies would want you to believe.

All it does, is hold the block together when it splits, and preserves your internals from becoming useless.

I know it doesn't make the block any stronger, it just saves your internals if the block splits.

I just am looking at buying a Canton oil pan, girdle, and pickup from a buddy for $400 and he doesn't want to split it up. I need the pan and pickup, and if I get a girdle along with it I might as well use it, cause it's a good deal.

ur not going to split a Boss 302 block unless u have more than 1500fwhp.

u can buy a brand new Canton 7 qt pan and pickup from coasthigh.com for $349. a girdle on a race block is worthless.
