ok, so here's the deal. i have a fuel safe sportsman tank on my '66 coupe, and the fuel pickup comes out of the front side of the tank. I just got my new Pro Cell for my '65 convertible but the pickup is on the top of the tank. Will a stock mechanical fuel pump be able to suck the gas out the top of the tank? Or will i need to convert to an electric pump?

Yes it will pull it up and out, but I would not have any high spots in the line from the tank to the pump, or it may be prone to cavitate(vapor lock).

Should be fine. Our systems are not a gravity feed type.

And what manual did you pull that one out of?

I'd be interested in knowing what kind of rise a mech fuel pump could handle at say 2000 rpm. What do you think, 15, 16 feet rise in elevation.
