Will a original 4cyl converted to 5.0 CARB'D 90 notch pass inspection in TEXAS?

We are planning on transplanting a GT-40 engine from a explorer on a originall 4 cyl nothch. It is going to be a 5-speed. Thank to all who suggested on a good carb, cam and intake for the notch. Well now my cuncern is if it is going to pass inspection wen all is done. I am sure there is somone out there who has a carbed fox body stang in Texas. Do you have any problems getting a inspection stiker.

Depends on where in Texas you are. Bigger cities are usually more repressive than rural areas.

I'm sure you will need to keep converters on it to get it passed the sniffer. After that you could just take them off.

So as long as it passes the sniffer. The fact that it has a completly different set up is no problem?

you'd have to read up on the regulations for your state/area. I know in CA if you swapped engines, you had to have all the emissions control setup from the newly swapped engine to pass visual inspection. Then you had to pass the sniffer.......Again, as stated, every state and sometimes county is different.

If you swap engines, it's supposed to be from a newer car, not older. So i think putting a carbed engine in a EFI car might not be legal since it's an older setup.

Or they could go by the literal age of the engine and think a new motor would qualify as a new engine.

Depends on how strict the guy you go to is. It's still gotta pass the sniffer. If it pumps out fog, having a carb on it is a moot point.
