Will a Panhard Bar work with the 4-link

I am gonna replace the stock LCA/UCa combo with some aftermarket units. I was gonna use the ford racing UCA's and some aluminum LCA's with an adj. spring perch. Would a panhard bar work with this combo?, or would there be binding issues? I've heard of people removing one of the UCA's so there is no bind. It sounds kinda risky. Any ideas on how to keep the axle in check without dumping over a grand on a torque arm or 5 -link kit would be appreciated.

I think that would be a decent budget build up. FRPP uppers, MM lowers, and MM panhard rod.

It should all work fine together. When you can finally afford it, swap out the upper arms for a torque arm or evolution motorsports 3 link setup.

The Panhard bar works with the 4-link and DO NOT remove the uppers. You cannot remove the uppers until you get a torque arm or ladder bars. The 4-link works together to control the vertical, lateral and Wind-up (rotational) motion of the axle.

UCA's & LCA's - Vertical movement, wind-up
PHB - Lateral placement

The Panhard bar takes the task of lateral placement off the control arms -that is all it does. It does not control the wind-up. Therefore, the 4-link still controls the vertical and wind-up. A torque arm controls the wind-up. When you have a torque arm, you have specific parts to control each movement exclusively.

LCA's - Vertical movement
TA -Wind-up
PHB -Lateral placement

Great. Thanks for the info. I'm gonna be working with 10k that I've saved up. I might just get the torque arm with the rest. I figure 400 bucks for one, give or take. I want to keep the suspension mods under 2k for everything. Thanks again.

i have a panhard bar and only run 1 uca all the time and have found the rear has better control with only one. the uca does control pinion movement and side to side movement. removing one allows the panhard bar to control side to side while still maintaning pinion movement. for proof just take a look the 05 stang, kinda just a cheap knockoff of f-bodies, but works none the less.

doen't that put serious stress on the one UCA? On the 05', it's parallel to the LCA's and the 04' s and older have them at damn near a 45 degree angle. Wouldnt that bend the UCA at the axle?

People have run a single UCA when running LCA's and a PHB. It's called a poor man's 3-link (PM3L). It's definately not a great plan and does indeed put undue stress on the UCA, but more importantly, it places a huge amount of stress on the torque boxes. It also creates a LOT of rear steer which can be completely counter productive in making a Mustang handle.

As mentioned, the best way to go about it is to use a TA/PHB setup or do one better and convert to a 3-link.
