I've been having pretty good luck with the stock 8.8 trac lock. I'm making 455 rwhp, have about 150 passes and I had it rebuilt twice. I know its time to rebuild when I start getting one-wheel burnouts. It seems like a good strategy to just rebuild the rear every couple of years, instead of trying to find an indestructible limited slip diff.
My 60' in those 150 passes were about 1.7-1.8s, which may explain the longevity of the stock tracloc. But recently I switched from ET streets to a full slick, and found that I can launch much harder. First time at the track with the slicks netted me low-mid 1.60's. I know with some more practice I'll be in the 1.50's.
I'm afraid that 1.50's-1.60's will kill off the tracloc a lot faster than 1.70's-1.80's did, and I was looking for ways to compensate for this.
Rear end girdles, like the TA came to mind. I know the girdles reduce flex, but will this really help extend the life, or do these girdles just prevent the rear from spilling all over the track when they blow up? Thanks
