Will a tremec 3650 work on an 88?

I can get a 3650 for pretty cheap, will it work on an 88 5.0?

You mean 3550? yes it will fit, I'm not sure if you need a belhousing and clutch, but you will nee a shifter to go with it.

i've never heard of a 3650

If it's the 3650, stay away from it. That what I've got in my Bullitt and Tremec still hasn't found a fix for the bent shift forks in them.

It's the tranny put in the mid-01 and up Mustangs.

It's a Ford design made by tremec.


They have a problem where they tend to be noisy going into 2nd gear when cold. Ford has just released a TSB that will fix the problem in factory 01-04 cars...but it's gonna cost you a lot of money to fix your trans on your own. I'd wait for a post-fix trans

I have heard bad stuff bout those tranny's. The G-Force tranny's are supposed to be good.

It will not bolt to a 302 block unless a custom adapter (bellhousing to block) is employed; the bellhousing and case are integral.
