ok heres the deal. i got a new stang. im running 13.80's in the 1/4. i want cams. i plan on doing heads down the road. but for now i want cams. i don't want to change anything else. not injectors or computer. with the hottest cam i can get without having to modify everthing else, what can i expect to pick up in the quarter mile. any recomendations are apreciated thanks

I am not sure of the exact numbers that you will pick up in the Quarter Mile but you should gain between 20 and 30 rwhp. This will obviously make a difference in your time.

If you are getting the hotter cam you must also do valve springs at the same time as the came install from what I have read. It is definitely highly recommended.

Well, with the hottest cams you would need to change some other things (like springs)...the hottest cam you could get without changing anything else would be a stage 1 and you wouldn't gain that much from just that...i'd buy some nice stage 2 cams and wait to get your new heads to put them on...that should pick you up ~40 rwhp with a tune

Without more mods, the hottest cams will not live up to your expectations. They'll sound good, but performance gains will be modest. Driveability will suffer too.

Mod motors are just like any other engine. The hottest cam in a stock engine will be over cammed and over camming is worse than running stock cams.

don't bother doing cams unless you're willing to get the springs that they will need and getting your car tuned afterwards...

Why would you do something to your nearly new $25k+ car without doing it in a way that will keep your motor safe?

Do all the bolt-ons first. then build your rear for slicks ($1K) then worry about cams and springs.
