I came across a good deal on some Holley systemax heads with SVO 1.6 rockers that came off a Fox body & I am considering using these on my 95GT with a Trickflow Track Heat manifold & most likely a custom cam... I have had a couple sources tell me that these heads will not work on SN95's for a number of reasons.....

Basically a guy I know told me that these heads will give me clearance issues since they are designed for 86-93 stangs.... He mentioned something about rocker to valve cover clearance issues, hood clearance, & also said that the H pipe would have issues too.... He also said that they wouldnt work with the stock 94-95 pistons....
Is this true, or will these heads fit without issues???? I have always been a mod motor guy, so I am still new to 5.0's, so I am not sure what will work, but i thought that all 87-95 5.0's were basically the same??? Thanks in advance for your help.....

b.s.. you're good to go if you don't use a huge cam.. .that guys and idiot

Thanks.... I just want a mild cam thats gonna have a decent lope to it & that will pass smog...The 95 is my daily, so I just want it to be reliable, but with some decent power at the same time. I love this car but it feels too slow compared to my 03 Mach, so I want it to be compareable power wise to I guess a stock Mach 1 or 99-01 Cobra.... I figured that decent h/c/i would pull that off easily if not better????

So these will work without issues???

+1

the heads are the same

i think its only the AFR 185 and 205 that will not work with stock pistons because they have such large valves

if you do buy them dont make sure you clay the pistons and check for piston to valve clearence to make sure you have enough. depending on what cam you go with you should have plenty but its always worth the extra few mins to save a ton of money if stuff crashed into eachother when its running

i did a mild buildup on my 95 (worked gt40p's/ 2031 cam/ cobra intake and all the boltons)

the TQ makes it so much fun to drive

when i switch back to the 02 i can definatly see where the modulars lack the low end grunt that the pushrod motors have, even with the KB on there

I think the holleys have big valves too??? Are these heads any good BTW??? I dont see alot of people running these & I originaly wanted the trickflow heads, but I am getting a good deal on these????

+1...Even this stock 95 with 3:08 gears feels more torquey in the low end than my Mach, but the high RPM & all around torque & power of the 4V is uncompareable all day.... I love pullin all the way up to 6800 rpms!!!! My 95 feels like it falls on its face at 4k....

If they are the old school holleys that were pedestal mount I wouldn't buy them. If they are the later castings and are stud mount then they are a decent head. They do have a 2.02" intake valve, but they will work with stock pistons due to the way the valve is sunk into the head. My dad runs them on his 91GT. He has the entire holley systemax II kit on his '91 and with the box stock kit he ran a 12.6 at 107mph. He then had the intake and heads ported, a custom FTI cam made, the heads milled, and he replaced the stock pistons with standard bore SRP's for added PTV clearance. He now runs 11.6 at 117mph NA and dyno'd 347rwhp.

I'd get the part number off the heads and check it with holley to see what version of the head they are and if they'll clear the stock bottom end. Holley had at least three revisions of that head if I recall.

Thanks...I beleive they are the pedestal mount.... Not 100% sure though....
