You may need a custom chip & dyno tune to get max power, but if you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for giggle gas, you shouldn't damage anything.

See http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/TechServ/TechInfo/NOSTech.html for more help

on a 5.0L FOX...I don't see the necessity for a chip...nothing a fuel pressure regulator and setting the timing won't take care of...however, a dyno tune would be nice...I am not convinced on the whole chip thing for our cars...however, GroverDill added a chip a while on doing a dyno tune and picked up like 30RWHP...he should shine some input on this...

Actually, a chip made a big difference on my very mild motor - we used it to change the idle speed, turn off the egr and thermactor functions, changed the cold start parameters so it starts/idles/drive-off just like stock even when it's 5F outside, changed the w.o.t. timing curve and leaned out the w.o.t. mixture to pick up significant HP on the dyno. Necessary - probably could get by without it; worthwhile - definitely for my car.
