Will i regret going to carbed?

I have many mysterious EFI problems, one of them is causeing some cylinders to run lean, others not, blowing head gaskets because of leaning out at higher rpms. Spliced wires by the computer harness. Too many things to deal with. I'm very tempted to throw a demon carb on it and be done with it. Its pretty much a play toy, will i regret doing it?

no way, just get it tuned right and you will see awesome performance

I wubby my carb. I wouldn't trade it for all the thousands of dollars I'd spend on EFI vs Carb Setup. Lemme see. 500 for a decent intake manifold... 200 for a carb. Want more fuel and air? Injectors, throttle body, egr spacer, cai, MAF. Hum.. 1000 bucks or buy a Demon for 450? Then all the tuning and computer ****... No thanks. Give me a jet kit and an adjustable regulator and I'll be running the same times with a **** load less money invested. And I still get 13 mpg.

ive always wanted to put one of those edelbrock performer rpm pro-flo efi kits on my car from jegs. its for 68-72 302's but just ditch all the sensors and smog stuff and youre all set

I think it depends on how well you can tune the carb for you car. Its a different beast with its own share of problems, but there is no "better" set up, just a matter of preference. I so far prefer the FI only because I like not having to warm up the car, get somewhat decent milage, etc. If your car is only a toy tho...

Here We Go.... Cheaper, Easier, Comparable Power To EFI (If Not Better At Time's), Easier Trouble Shooting etc. etc. etc.
Of Course EFI has it's advantages as well, but I say Carb all the Way!! Get a good quality carb (Barry Grant, Holley, AED, etc. etc.) and once you have her tuned and set right you won't regret it at all.

In most way's it's really a matter of personal preference..... Both Carb & EFI have their advantages & disadvantages.

no carb i wouldnt trade my efi set up for the world theres a reason they stoped using them 20 years ago ...personaly i think you can tune an efi easyer.yeas more costly but i think its worth it

The only reason I'm not using a carb is because I want to use boost, It is much easier to run FI with boost, You'll love that demon they are awesome. And as for they stopped using them 20 years ago, what does nascar use?? Technology has improved, so have carbs.

I think EFI was created so more parts companies can make money I prefer carb because it has a cleaner look, more power than a stock EFI setup, and cheaper to mod. Get a nice airgap intake and a new carb

I think on a pushrod engine, 400 HP carb or 400HP EFI will do roughly the same MPG! You can boost a carb'd engine too, I've never done this but people tell me its easier to boost a carb'd engine rather than EFI???

It is very easy to boost a carbed setup. Paxton has come out with an encloser that makes it so easy to boost a carbed motor. Instead of blowing through the carb, it actually pressurizes the WHOLE carb, so there is no imbalances in the venturies. All you need is a turbo/supercharger, the enclosers, a tune kit for the carb, and a boost referance fpr. No huge 500 dollar injectors, or 1000MM MAF meter. It IS easier to boost a carb then EFI. Just don't use a bonnet for boost on a carb. Always gives you problems and you're always tuning it.

All out toy i'de pick carb, for all around enjoyment, i'de go efi. I had an accident caused by carb a fuew years back. Light turned on me, I went, the engine sputtered and stalled out because it wasn't warmed up on one january morning . Overall tunability is easiest with carb setup but it also definitely has its fits as well. One of the nicest conveniences of efi IMHO is you can mod the heck out of them and the ecu does the tuning for you by compensation As for carb, if you're heavy in the continual-aftermarket, you're always trying to find that sweet spot on the carb. Another great advantage of efi over carb is that for carbs, the tuning is done for a specific rpm range, whereas efi can run at a certain level of performance throughout the rpm range. It's all preference really, but it's the hassles i've had to go through with 2 vehicles with carbs that made be think against them today - I love the many advantages to EFI even though my stang is a play toy as well, but maybe that's just me.

Let me put it this way, If I had unlimited money, I would not use a carb.
Anyone who says that a carb can create more power is wrong.
It is true You can get more power for much much less if money is the issue.
Spending 500$ on a carb setup on a stock 302, You would need to spend over 1000 to get the same HP from a efi setup.
But EFI is a more efficent and has more potential than carbing.
It just costs way more. Not to mention that streetabilty with EFI will be better, Considering it auto adjusts to climate/altitude/etc..
For example. Go take your tuned carb setup and drive way above sea level or way below it (depending on where you are) And your power will go through the floor.
EFI runs basically the same wherever it is.
Its just about what you want.
Carb has a cleaner look, No wires, etc.
For my uses of being soley a weekend/cruising car, Carb was the obvious choice, Since I wont be travelling in the veichle, nor will I be haunted by the cost of EFI performance parts.
Weigh it out. You should pick what means more to you.
