I have my door skin off & I just want to be able to lock it with a key, I dont care about replacing the actuator right now. I should be able to drill out the rivet & then remove it right? Then could I lock it with my key?

Yes it will work if you lock it by key.

Theres no need to drill out the rivet. if you stick your hand in the door (with the panel off) and push one side of the tabs, and with your other fingers pull the actuator forward, it will come out, and you can put it back in the same way. A hell of a lot easier than removeing the rivet then having a body shop put a new one in.

Yup....what he said. My drives side actuator started to cease up near the end of last season and by the time I put it away I could barley turn the key in the door. (gotta love those Canadian winters) Anyway, just disconnect it and voila....turns free and clear. Miss my power locks though. :(

BTW...where ya been Sal?
