Will These Blocks Interchange?

I have a buddy who has a 98 cobra, 4v aluminum block with the forged crank. His connecting rod broke at the track a few weeks back knocking a nice hole in the block. His tuner gave him an aluminum block out of an 08 gt. Will these blocks interchange and can he use his forged crank on the 08 block?? Something seems different to me where the timing chain goes, the water pump fitment, and the knock sensord. I'm a sbf guy so I'm not that familiar with the modulars. The 98 block is on left, 08 block on right

You should be able to make it fit. Some parts may need to be modified to fit and you may have to use some of the 08 parts too. There should be someone on here that can tell you the finer details of early modular to later modular swaps. I'm pretty sure you can make it work though. The 05 and up 4.6 block is what Ford Racing is punching out to 5.0 and selling as replacement short blocks for all us 4.6 guys now.
