When mine was a daily driver, I had a set of Yokohama Guardex 600 snow tires on 16" black steel wheels. The car looked ghetto, but I could get around with confidence. I wouldn't even think of trying to get by with a set of summer tires. You might be able to get moving, but if you have to turn or stop quick to avoid something, you very likely will go through that something.
