Winter Is Coming!?!

Storage insurance is like $8 per month. If she's willing to share the car, Do it man. Other people seem to risk it, you may not have a problem. But come December, I'm willing to bet you you're going to start seeing a few less mod posts (as is normal on all RWD thread forurms come winter) and a few more **** I wrecked my ****** car. peace of **** ***** pulled out right in front of me. ***. Etc, etc, etc. Your choice. I would think hilly Colorado would be just as bad as Wa. But this is just my .02. Guess I can't drive.

Luckily for me, the town I live in is two hours from the Kansas border meaning flat like Kansas! But I'm still worried, people are idiots out here in the snow, and sadly, it's always so many ricers that get in wrecks in town because they think their body kit adds enough weight to keep it on the road Anywho, I got a '94 chrysler concorde and '81 ford f350 i can hopefully drive over the few months. also have a '93 dynasty that doesn't go over 40, now that's a car... haha. i completely forgot about that car, i guess i found my winter junker.

bad idea man, not worth the risk. you could get in a wreck, or just get pulled over. my sister got pulled over for a broken haedlamp once and didn't have insurance, got her license suspended for two years.

yea, and besides insurance plus storage insurance (if you owe on the car otherwise cancel the insurance all together) should be cheaper than the insurance you have now.

Two words: TIRE CHAINS!

yeah yeah yeah, it's a truck thing but they work STELLAR on the mustangs too.

I delivered pizza in my 87 lx 5.0 beater in my college days (puts on flameproof suit) during blizzards and drove 2 hours back to boston every weekend to work at the .com company, rain snow and ice.

I made a u-turn going offroad through the mud once in basically a cornfield

I saw PVTA busses and explorers stuck in the snow but my RWD noseheavy mustang with tire chains was zipping right along past them

Tire chains are the end all last word in traction. Forget snowtires. Forget cinderblocks in the trunk.

Just lash them on REAL tight and dont go more than 55 mph!!! You dont even want to think about these things coming loose.

Just drive sensible(like mentioned above). I have driven my car in snow, ice, sleet, rain...Just go slow and dont mash the gas...unless no one or nothing is around...I like driving in the rain...in big parking lots...late at night

I have only done that kinda stuff in a FWD little Honda, but fun as hell none the less!

Down here in Texas People get dumb when it snows. If any of yall watch King of the Hill, remember when it snowed? Barely any snow, patches of green, and they bounce around like bumper cars. Its not that bad but I thought it was funny .

I have driven my stang in the rain with my near bald 555Rs at 50 mph (my skinnies lock up first ). I would never go any faster, and I would never drive the 555Rs in the snow. Tire chains sound like a good idea.

I'm with this guy and the others who have driven a 5.0 in the winter. I've driven mine through 3 winters (the grand cherokee always breaks down when I need it for winter ) and I've been ok. Sure, you'll slide around a bit...my rear tires probably had less than 50% tread and I still made it. Rain, Ice, Snow, Sleet, Hail, you name it and the 5.0 has been in it. I'm not saying everyone can do it, but I manage ok - just realize that these cars do have torque and you will smash something if you don't stay off of the gas.

I'd prefer not to drive the 5.0 in winter if I didn't have to, I don't even like to drive mine in rain although I'm perfectly capable, I'd rather drive my 4wd. Anyway, if you can talk your mom into it, get a 2nd car or drive her car or whatever.

MAVERICK totally FLAMED ME! haha its ok...but im not that experienced with a stick either...thats why im so concerned.... i guess i could throw 2 GOOD winter tires in the rear and get some good rear upper and lower control arms and then just try and drive careful.....

Take the money your gonna spend to "try" and get your mustang to have better traction and buy a lil 4 wheel drive ranger or somthing like that.

Something i do to get a lil more traction is add some weight over axles and i will lower the air pressure in my tires if its snowing real bad (only do this if roads are covered in snow) Other than that.....i dunno
