Hey guys my problem is starting to drive me crazy  From time to time my car cranks but dosen't start i changed all the parts TFI module ,coil ,cap rotor wires (yes the fuel pres is there )and still i get this plus some funny thing is going on with the power to the coil i get power on the 2 wires on the plug that plugs in to the coil  and i know that one terminal on the coil is pos and one is neg so what the hell is going on :( After few hours of trying to start the car it finally did and i got my tester to check the power to the coil again and the car runs and still i get power on both wires  Can some one check it for me if you get also the power to the coil on the 2 wires going in to the coil with the car running or just the key on ???

Thanks

As you noted, the neg side of the coil pulses ground really quickly.

I'm wondering if you are seeing inductance from the coil when it's ground is removed.

When it wont catch, have you actually confirmed that you indeed do not have spark at the spark plug wires (somewhere past the coil, to remove this coil testing issue you're having)?

In general, if you are really losing spark, check injector pulsing. If you have injector pulsing, it's likely the TFI, coil, etc. It can be something like a bad connection or too much heatsink grease on the TFI.

If you have neither spark or injector pulsing, look at the PIP.

Good luck.

Yes i dont have spark at the spark plug wires i took one of the boot's out put one of the old spark plugs on and i had my brother in law crank it and nothing I changed TFI today and i did not use any grease on it
Can my distributor be the problem ??? this happens like every month or 2 it depends
I want to track this problem before i get stock on the Highway
One more thing can the box that its mounted on the fan be bad to ???????

Thanks again

Did you have the spark plug grounded? You need to rest the spark plug on the intake mani....or have the spark jump from the boot to like a screw driver. You wont spark if its not grounded.

The CCRM (box on the overflow bracket) is likely NOT your issue.

Check what I posted above or just take your TFI to the parts store and ask them to bench test it several times (to heat it up).

Good luck.

sounds like the classic pip sensor going out in your distributor.I had the exact symptoms you are having at one point I though it was my alarm on my car since if I keep disarming it the car would start .Since our cars are 11 years old I would replace the whole distributor the sensor is in there and it almost cost the same as just replacing just that sensor and you get a lifetime warranty on the distributor.

Finaly........ the problem is found it's the Distributor  I'm going to get it replaced i'm thinking of getting MSD one or just Orginal Motocraft one :)

Thanks again

Get a motorcraft one or one from the autoparts store those have lifetime warranty the motorcraft doesnt and its more expensive I bought mine from Kragen about a year ago for 120 with lifetime warranty. DON'T get the msd they tend to fail alot.MSD= Might Suddenly Die
