There is a FREE recall on Ford ignition switches. They overheat and sometimes catch fire.

Copy down you VIN number and call the Ford dealer nearest you. Tell them you want to see if the ignition switch recall for Fords & Mustangs was done on your car. They will ask for the VIN number & check it against the master database. If it isn't in the datbase, then you can schedule an appointment to have the switch replaced for free. The TSB is #95S28, and don't let them tell you that they don't do that anymore...

yea its been done to my car and i replaced it with a new switch from a local parts house still did it so i went to ford got a switch still does it. the more load on the switch the faster the wires get hot and the hoter they get hot.but thanks for the idea.

ok here is a update it seams it only does it when the ac is on . so its in the a/c some were. blower mottor runs good all speads but its the only thing on that system that pulls a load has any had a blower motor go bad

from my foggy memory, i cant think of how the a/c would have anything to do with the ignition wiring.
which wires are getting hot? what colors. figure that out, and you can really narrow it down and find a way to fix it or band aid it.
good luck.

I had an elec fan wired to the ac circuit and it did same thing. I removed the elec fan from the circuit and it stopped. Maybe you blower motor is pulling to many amps.

Agreed! Are you running anything else to the Ac Circuit that you know of? If I were you I'd rip out the AC and pick up another pully...but that's just me...lol. Is the wiring new?

well the wire that is getting hot is a gray witha yellow strip.this has had to of happend befor becuse whin i got the cover of of the colum the wires have been spliced . well i put in a blower motor no go still gets hot.well as said earlyer i put a bandaid on it . i pulled power from the batt installed a 30 amp relay used the grey/yellow wire as the triger and no more hot wire for now. i well fix it when i have more time. i need to put a new stering colum in soon befor it comes of in my hands. so well get the wireing to go with it. the plug to the ignition switch is melted along with two yellow power wires. hopefully its just abad conection at the switch. if not back to the drawing board. if you have any more ideas lets hear it i could use the help . thanks

using a SPDT relay should be fine, for now.

now, i might be wrong, but a/c is fuse 9, right?
i think there are two grey wires in the ignition connector. one is for the HEGO's and one is for fuse 5 and 8. both of those do little stuff.
so that is a little weird. im sure some of the wiring gurus might have some ideas for you (for a permanent fix). good luck.
