I've been working on installing an EZ 21 fuse wiring harness for the better part of two months now. I thought I was finished today and connected the battery up this morning. I was very glad to see that there was no smoke exiting from under the dash. The horn immediatly came on but I figure that is a small problem. So I begain trying other things:
Headlights: ok
Door switches: ok
Flahers: ok
Brake lights: ok
Turn signals: No go
Ignition: No go
Oh crap!
So I started going through the fuses they are fine but I noticed that certain circuits are not recieving power. So at the fuse box there is no power to the Radio, Wipers, AC/Heat, or the turnsignals. What a wierd sucky problem to run into. I think somewhere in the wiring for the ignition swithc that there is something wrong. Of course that is the most deeply baried portion of the harness. I am thinking I may have to pull my dash to get to it again.
Is there anything else you guys can think of that I should check before I go that far? I also think that I may have smoked my voltage regulator, but I know that shouldn't effect the ignition in any case. I wish that the EZ wiring instructions would have included a complete circuit diagram. I would have been alot easier to deal with the stupid GM plug they had on the ignition switch then. GM
Wait they made the Corvete so GM can't be all bad.

lol...im fighting the same fight you are but Im having trouble with my headlight switch...
Turn signals you probably ahve hooked up wrong. The column harness (stock side, not the new harness shold have 9 wires coming out of it.
Green - Stop light switch
Blue - Flasher then to Black green off the ignition switch (accessories)
Orange blue - rear passanger blinker
Green white (2 wires) - driver front blinker and light in dash
Greeen orange - drivers rear blinker
Red black - Emergency flasher
White blue - passanger front blinker and light in dash
Green red (wire under blue/white) goes to the light switch
last wire (under the black/red) goes to the horn
ignition switch
proof wires dont go to anything (2 of them)
Yellow - constant hot
black green - accessories
red blue - starter solenoid small post
greeen red - voltage regulator 'S' post
pink or red/green - tach if its red/green or no tach if its pink
all this info is for a 69 stang but ford did universal colors for wiring harnesses so it should work for you...

windshield wiper switch
orange white - accessories hot
green - windsheild washer motor
white black - fuse block
red - windsheild wiper motor
blue - windshield wiper motor
black - windshield wiper motor

here are the other 2 switches under the dash. I did the rest for my own good but I figured I post it up

I solved part of the problem and got the turn signals and accessories working. There was a wire that I didn't think I needed for my ignition switch but it turned out to be the one that feeds power to the turnsignals and other accessories.
So now I just have to deal with the horn and a connect a bypass wire to the remote start relay on the car alarm I added.
I turned on my blower and it sounded like it was rubbing inside the housing and it kinda smelled like it was trying to burn itself up. The motor is new and I am wondering if there is something I need to add to the little motor control circuit on the side of the blower housing to get it to work properly. Maybe a resister or something to limit the current going to it. Well I'm off to do battle again.
Thanks for the info I' going to check it against what I did on the switch and see if it's the same.

sounds good...
do you know what the Ignition switch ignition wire is for?? its purple I believe. I cant get my turn signals to work b/c there is no power to the flasher but I have a feeling we are talking about the same wire that you didnt think you needed.
Thanks
Tim
I have the OEM wiring diagrams if they will help you guys, give me your year and an email and I'll send them to you.
The Purple wire on the EZ harness I think is ign coil start, and you need that one connected for sure. I'm sorry but I'm out of town in Iowa right now and unforunatly I don't have my car here to look at for you to make sure. However I can tell you that the wire that I didn't think I needed was a beige/light brown wire that reads ign switch ign and it has to be connected to the ign switch coil wire which goes to the red/Light blue wire off the ignition switch.
I finally got my car to start for me the other day. My problem was that I had the wrong relay in for the remote start circuit on my alarm. It what was preventing my ignition switch from starting the car. The horn I fixed also, but the leak in the new water pump I put on recently was what prevented me from bringing my car on my trek across the country. I can't wait to get back and go back to work on it. I'm excited about driving it again after three months.

wiring is 100% done, just waiting on a new driveshaft, balancer and flexplate and its ready for paint

Took me a couple long days to figure out the wiring. Dont be dumb like me, use the back of the book where it says to label existing wires and stuff for referance later. Also, it really really helps to ahve an existing wiring harness diagram to look up any questions to what wire does waht on the origional harness. It looks like you have a 69-70 stang so if you need the origional diagrams, PM me

I don't mean to hijack but does the above also work for a 68?
I'm not sure I'd have to check my wiring diagram. Many of the wire colors were left the same on the mustangs over the years, but I noticed that some went to different things depending on the year model.

jikelly- Who is the maker of your harness? I have been looking at the painless wiring full classic mustang harness and was wondering if anyone here has any experience installing one of these?

Didn't somone post some pretty good pics of the 68 wiring harness a while back. Kidtaurus you should try searching the forum or posting a request for a picture of it because the one that is in my hanes manual for your year is kinda sucky.
