Won't start- (auto) transmission safety switch

For a long time I've seen this coming- I have to jiggle the shifter in park a couple times to find a good position in which the car will crank.

Now, no amount of rearranging the shifter will allow the starter to turn over.

Help?

Sounds like your neutral/safety switch needs adjusting, or the shifter pushrod. If the shifter can wiggle side-to-side, you need a pair of pivot bushings, too.

THe switch can also wear out. Iv'e drilled out the rivits, cleaned it and reassembled with machine screws, but the better fix is to just replace it sinces it's repoped now if everything else checks out.
