Won't start in 'P'

Sometimes engine doesn't start in 'P' posision. It starts in 'N' though.

Is this a malfunction of the safety switch? If so how do I access it?

The switch is on the LH side of the trans, around the lever on the trans. (one exception was the 69-73 FMX, which had the switch inside the shifter)

The mounting screw holes are slotted, for adjustment. Loosen the screws slightly, and rotate the switch to adjust. If this fails, the switch is bad and must be replaced.
