So I ordered a new fuel tank, fuel pump, filler neck and all the necessary hardware needed to swap the old and rusty one from my 1990 5.0 GT. All my parts were ordered through Late Model Restoration " 5.0 Resto " .

Everything was plug and play and easy to assemble but when it came to installing it on the car, then that is where the problem started. No matter which way I Install this fuel tank, IT WILL NOT FIT. I already tried using longer bolts to stretch the straps everything else. The Tank is just Way to big . Anyone Else have this problem????

I'm gonna go to Auto Zone or O'reilys to look for another fuel tank so I can compare them. So frustrated and pissed especially after spending so much money. This LMR tank has to be defective !!!!

When I took my fuel tank off to replace the fuel pump it took two people and a ton of effort to get it back in. I had the same problem with the straps seeming too short but after messing with it and jacking the tank up into the car as much as I could I finally was able to bolt it in. If I didn't know that it had just came off the car I wouldn't think it was going to fit but it ended up working. This could be your problem too but I don't know.

The fuel tank is an oddity. It is one of the few jobs on the foxbody Mustang that I wished that I had a helper to assist me.
It pops out easily like an inflamed pimple, but it takes a large piece of 3/4" plywood on top of a floor jack to put it back in.
