OK... short and sweet... My '88 has a windshield with a crack that's gotten outta control. I mean it's spidered every way possible from one side of the car to the other... to be honest, I'm suprised the thing hasn't just fallen in on me.
Neways, my buddies stang was recently in a wreck and is about to be sent to the junk yard but the windshield is still good.
So, is it possible / worth trying to salvage and put i my stang?? I don't want my insurance goin up, which is why I'm not planning on going that method.. but is it doable?? Do you need special tools??
Thanx for the help... I'm kinda pressed for time.

Is it doable? Probably. Can you do it? Probably not. Windshield removal takes a certain amount of practice and the right tools. I'm not saying that you can't do it but for $100 you can get someone who has a lot more experience at it than you do.

You can do it and quite easy... Things you need are - either some guitar strings, or the steel cable for picture frames, or piano strings (to \use as a saw to cut through the urithane - 2 pairs of vice grips to use as handles to saw the cable back and forth - and a tube of window urithane from NAPA or Car Quest to install the new window.... All you need to do is remove the window trim (bot inside and out) and clips, feed the cable through the urithane (difficult to start but once it's through the window is just time consuming after that) Get a buddy to help you saw back and forth until you have gone all the way around the window then just lif it out (use a chunk of cardboard to protect the dash.... Clean most of the remaining urithane off the window frame and as much as you can off of the new window (with a utility knife)... Run a bead of urithane on the window frame about .5" thick and place in the new window....then tape in place and let harden.... Once it has set remove the tape and replace the inner and outer trim and you are finished... To remove 2 windows and replace 1 set aside the better part of a day at least!

If you use the string method make sure you keep the string level under the glass..if you pull up at all it will crack the windshield trust me. take you time and don't force it. A hot sunny day will help as the sealant will be easier to cut through. Beware though it will be real sticky too. I agree try the junker first.. what have you got to lose it's free.
