would 2005 gears work in early Stangs?

i have a 1991 Stang with 3.55 thats how i bought the car, but for about 2 years i have to drive it on the highway going to NC from MI a couple time in 2 years and would like gas mileage more, and was wondering if 2005 Stangs with 3.08 8.8" 28 spline rear end if those gears would fit into my Stang.

i hear they will, but just to make sure

i'd assume that all ford 8.8s are interchangable

for me going from 2.73's to 3.73's boosted my gas mileage from 14 per gallon to 20 per gallon

Considering all 05 GT's have 3.55's, I don't think it'd be a worth while swap.
