Hi... I know I have a exhaust leak between the h pipe and the headers... because when I put my hand down by the flange with the engine running I can feel the exhaust leak.... Went for a drive today.... still with this exhaust leak.. which I am going to try to tackle this weekend.. but I want to see what you guys think about the noise I'm hearing... You know when your able to cruise along with out giving it much and it kinda just hums .. that deep sound .... but the second you give it a little to get going at all... like up a hill or just to accelerate... I get the squeaky ticking noise which gets louder the more I give it.. then if I let of and just cruise again it can go away.. I try to drive it without making the noise by just getting to a cruising speed. Does that sound like a noise that it would make with that particular exhaust leak.. definitely not a header gasket leak.. brand new... and the fact that I can feel the air pulsing out around where the h is mounted up.. I am planning on picking up some high temp silicon.. and am gonna get the car way up on stands and am gonna give it another shot... this time trying to do my best to get it lined up straight.. I did get down there and try to just tighten the bolts.. noise faded a bit... but didn't really help... guess it could just need adjusting... Sorry about the long post..

I've never heard an exhaust leak squeak, but I suppose it's possible with enough pressure behind it. Sure it's not the belt slipping or gear whine? Under an increased load, either one of those would be more apt to squeak/whine.

the noise is kinda a ticking squeek... and I know there is that exhaust leak.. that's the only reason I'm leaning towards that.. I am looking at a x pipe with hi flow cats.. but am about 200 dollars short of having enough.. recent paint job set me back..

ya I'm hoping its exhaust definitely a easier fix... just a bitch trying to put that h pipe up... again.... I wonder if I have to take it right down again.. or if I can just try to adjust it with the bolts loose we'll see. was busy this week helping my dad with siding so I haven't got to it yet... surprised I haven't got any other responses.. lots of views... has anyone else experienced this??

so I got under the car today.... loosened the bolts and tried to line it up better... tightened everything up... and then fired her up... I can still feel air pulsing out near the flange... gonna take a break today.. but will have to give it another shot... what a pain in the .. :bang:

so I just took my h pipe right off... and what happened.. was it obviously wasn't lined up right on the driver side... when I first bolted it up after installing the new headers... it bend the header flange... which was creating a major exhaust leak... I got under there with some vice grips and bent it back to normal.. anyways... so I think I am gonna be able to get it up good now.. but I want to use some high temp silicon or something... when I first bolt it up... it looks like it is a perfect fit... but am kinda wondering if I should take the exhaust to a shop and get them to widen the flange on the stock h pipe slightly. I really would like to pick up a x pipe with cats one of these days.. but for now... I am gonna try to get this thing up there.. I really hope after getting it up and lined up right that the squeeky ticking noise goes away... will be crossing my fingers...

so I bought some hi-temp silicon... and bolted her back up... think its up there nice and snug... when I feel around the flange I don't feel gaps like before.. but am supposed to wait 24 hours for the silicon.. then tighten er up a bit more.. will be crossing my fingers!!

So I tightened it up a bit more... let her down ran it for about 20 minutes without reving it.. Then took it for a spin.... the squeeky tick is more of a chirp now... What a pain in the ***!!!! I need to hang my punching bag!!!

So just as a update.. I went and bought that exhaust stuff... cold weld or something.. supposed to get stronger when heated... after leaving it on there cold for 3 4 hours. And I tried to rub it around the flange where there may be a leak... Is there some sort of exhaust wrap that could work??? More thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

I'd take the H-pipe completely off and start again. When you tighten up the bolts on the header flanges - do all 4 (both sides) at the "same" time. Tighten each bolt a little at a time - and before you put it back together put some of the cold weld around the opening of the H-pipe. If that doesn't fix it, nothing will.

I kinda bent the header flange a bit the first time I mounted up so I probably should take the headers off and make sure everything meets u right.. but for now I am gonna just try some of that cold weld... with it mounted up ... and am going to take it for an emissions...
