would i overheat with a aluminum 351 block?

I'm trying to build up a 351 motor and having problems finding a block. I've looked for more than 6 months to find just a plain roller motor out of a f-250, bronco, van. I don't want to do the retro lifter thing, and I was going to do a sportsman but those things are high 11 to mid 1200 dollar range so for 500 more dollars i could have myself a fordracing aluminum block. Which would save around a 100 lbs. Would their be any other disadvantages besides heating???

AFAIK, the aluminum blocks are all dry sump. Not necessarily a deal killer, but good to be aware of...

I notice that you're in Idaho -- you might PM N20Jnky, last time I checked he was trying to sell a 351 block. It's a 94/95 roller block, tanked & checked, ready to build. Don't remember what he was asking for it.

Given the amount of pain in dealing with an aluminum block, I'd take my $2000 and blow it on a DART Iron Eagle 302. Displacement is nice, but with a DART block I'd just give it 25 psi of boost and be done with it...

They are but setting them up for wet sump isn't that big of a deal. Depending on where it's ordered from (which distributor, not which race shop), they can usually be ordered wet or dry. Double check with HP.

Further, I'd double check any price under $3500 for a Ford aluminum block. $1800? Sounds too good to be true to me. Caveat Empor...

That's a good point. I googled for 351 aluminum block, and came up with references to SVO 351W *IRON* blocks in the $1500-1700 range, but anything that was aluminum was close to $4k.

I saw a K351 on eBay a year or so ago, brand new (unsleeved), went for $1000. I kick myself when I think about that, I should have picked it up...

as block of 351 you recommend who are economico to make 408 stroker with 900hp.

my engine is a 408 stroker all forged and I am looking for that block of 351 can support that horsepower and that he is not very expensive.

please if they can recommend some to me in some www. of the United States I I buy by ebay, summit, jegs,

know you some direction where can obtain a block that has supported 900 horses?

those that I have seen surpass the 2000 dolares

You can get a dart block..those are proven to hold the horsepower. The dart blocks are a bit on the expensive side........but, if you can save up they're well worth it.

WOW, your new and from another country yet you found the search function

For 900hp you are going to need a dart block IMHO. I would not want to go over 600hp (at the rear tires)with a ford factory 351 based block.
