Just wondering how many people have or would stroke your stock block out to a 331? I really want a forged 331 from DSS but i cant afford it, i can get a used stock block from a fox for super cheap then build it up with DSSs 331 stroker kit. Do you think that the block will be able to hold? Are the Fox Block and the sn95 blocks the same or will there need to be some modifications to the mounts or anything else? Do you think its worth stroking the stock block? Also what else do you think i would need to do this? I know gaskets for sure. Would i need a better oil pump? I would like to put some AFR 185s and an FTI cam but i would not be able to afford all that right away, so for the time being i would need to put some ported E7s on there.

Definitely go for the stroker. DSS shortblocks come with a production block unless you spring for the r or dart based block upgrade. It may be cheaper in the long run to just buy a fully assembled shortblock from them. The amount of money you'd have tied up in machine work and such, you might very well save money in the end having them do it all. If you don't put a power adder on it, the stock block will be fine with what you are doing.
 
i actually do want to go forced induction in the future. maybe just waiting for one of their assembled motors will have to do. The only problem is i dont know how long the motor will last. if the motor goes i dont want to just rebuild it (if i can) with stock parts, i would rather upgrade for more power.
 
how off into the future is this forced induction??...if the block is in good shape throwing a forged rotating assembly in there will be fine for some time...and wont make block splitting power....now down the road you could boost it and run low boost to keep the block from splitting until you can afford a nice new block....or later on you can upgrade the block...or just wait...lol its really up to you....but i say honestly how far off is the blower/turbo setup??

Im using a stock block.. Built it myself from the ground up and it saved me a TON... You can get forged or cast steal crank for cheap. Also you can get rods cheap...

Stock Block maybe 50-100
forged crank 350
forged rods 350
forged pistons w/rings 470
rod, cam, and main bearings 100
balance job 175
bore job 100-120
frost plugs 25
oil pump 35
flywheel 200
balancer 200
2125.00 TOTAL!!!

There is your basic FORGED stroker short block... prices are give or take 10-20 bucks maybe.
Let me see a shortblock w/forged internals for that price from DSS...

Far as the power goes... I have a theory on that... If you stay under 6k rpms a stock block will hold a TON of power. Also if you have a gradual increase in power (Unlike Nitrous) a stock block will hold a ton...

DSS has like 2 series of machined blocks now... Pretty sure they are still stock, that can hold between 625 and 675 hp i believe... ITs all in the machine work is what i think..

Im running right at 500 rwhp and im looking for 525+ on my next dyno trip... Still on a stock block... There is one guy on here running a turbo on his car making near 600 rwhp on stock shortblock...

IF somebody would send me a thread of a split block I would like to see it.. I have never seen one except for nitrous and high rpm setups granade itself.. But i would like to see one split under 6000 rpms without nitrous, perferably with a vortech and not like a kb either... Looking for a gradual increase in power like mine... My theory is that it is pretty hard to find...
