Wow! A UK mag praises the Roush Mustang!

A magazine here in the UK included a supercharged Roush Mustang in their Performance Car Of The Year shootout. Now it's fair to say that most American cars get a rough ride on many fronts so the end result was a bit of a shocker. It came equal 3rd out of 13. The test is one of pure driving pleasure and fun, not of any other factors. the cars that beat the Roush were the tiny rapier-like Renault Clio Trophy and a BMW M3 CS. The Roush tied with the 350Z GT4 but beat off a Lotus, an Impreza and even the Corvette C6. So overall, a nice result in raising the profile of American cars over here.

Would there happen to be a link to this story anywhere online? I would love to read about the supercharged Roush since I'm thinking about going with their Roushcharger kit for my '06 GT. That's impressive that the stang beat out the C6!

The magazine is called EVO but unfortunately the on-line content is a lot meaner than Motor Trend.

"The Roush Mustang is without doubt the biggest character. It is a bit flawed, a bit lairy, not overly sophisticated but it's pretty well sorted. The least important element is the engine. It's the suspension, wheeels, tyres and brakes that make it great...it does all the things it's supposed to do, stops, goes round corners and it's got generally well-damped suspension - the big chin spoiler hasn't hit the ground once...massive fun" The test was for cars up to £50k. The wooden spoon went to the new MX5, they hated it. The Corvette was merely a disappointment and was left behind by the Mustang and the M3 on a fast drive.

BTW, to add icing to that Ford cake, they tested a bunch of supercars as well, including F430 and Gallardo and threw in the Clio Trophyand M3 from the lower group. The Ford GT came 1st, Ferrari 2nd, the Clio Trophy 3rd as driver's cars. Why? The conclusion was that the Ford GT was "a 550bhp Elise".

It's been a good year for performance Fords.
