Ok so before anyone flames me about getting splash guards for my car I just wanna let you all know I live in the Northeast. Driving in the spring time is horrible with all the little ground up pieces of tar from the plows and when they try to fill up the pot holes. I noticed I had some small stone chips on the rocker panel from these small pieces of tar flying up and hitting my car. Having wider tires in the front doesnt help either... since when I got out of my car once I noticed these little black pieces of tar that got flung up and landed on my hood also resulting in a couple chips...:nonono: So I figured I go to the dealer and order some splash guards for just the front end. I might put some on the rear too just so it matches but Im still unsure if I want to do that.

So anyway I go to the dealer and tell him specifically that they are for a 2002 MUSTANG GT and made sure they were the hard plastic molded ones because it was bad enough that I had to get splash guards but there was no way in hell I was gonna put big truck looking mud flaps on my car. So I get a call from them this morning saying they came in and I can come pick them up. So I get there pickl up the box then get into my car and notice on the sticker that it says 1999 Mustang. Im sitting there for a minute and my first reaction is "..." So i open them up and they look exactly like the ones I saw online and the parts guy said they only supply one style and it is the molded ones. So I figure since the New Edge mustangs came out in 1999 they will be fine. Then I just went out to mount them and it says I need to drill to holes and **** and Im like "uhhhh ok". To my understanding I thought they just mounted up to the existing holes. So does anyone on here know if I need to get a set that SPECIFICALLY say 2002 Mustang or will these be fine. I mean they line up perfectly with the body lines of the wheel well but Im kinda iffy about drilling holes into my car then finding out these are the wrong ones.

You won't find specific 2002 mustang splash gaurds. They don't reinvent the wheel for each specific model year. What works for 1999 will work through 2004. It's the right product for sure.

Can't help ya as far as drilling the holes goes. As long as the holes wont be visible when the gaurds are removed, I'd say go for it:nice:

hope this helps

you have to drill...

If you want em, take the wheels off and drill the hole... if you want to try and cheat, 3m them on. They sell rolls of 3m at vatozone.

IMO they don't look too bad, and they serve their purpose well here in Colorado

See they dont look too bad on your car... but when I kinda stuck them up on my car with some cheap tape just to see how they would look I didnt really like the way they looked. +1 to the 3M suggestion its funny because tonight at work I was telling my supervisor that I was gonna take em back because they make the car look kinda tacky then I was like "hmmm I wonder if I could 3M tape them on?" my only fear is after a few months of the weather getting to em them falling off while driving. I can just picture it now me doing like 80+ down the highway then the whole car bouncing up in the air suddenly and me being like "huh I dont remeber a speed bump being here". See I thought they made my car look tacky but since Im running 245 tires in the front (which is the stock tire size for these cars anyway) I always get pieces of tar and gravel landing on my hood and dinging my rocker panels. Then the car looks tacky with all these little chips in the paint. URGH I can never win I hate living in Massachusetts...:nonono:

EDIT: Also does your car have em on the rear as well??? I can't tell from the pic as there looks to be something there but it blends with the rest of the car because of the lighting.

Bullit side scoops are held on with 3m... true they have 2 pins as well...

IMO if you are unsure 3M them, it will hold for a while. If you are ok with them, drill like suggested.

I have front and rear, more pics on the car domain site, but I don't mind them.
